Ramen Ryoma
Beaverton, OR

Ryoma.jpg

Overall: 9.5/10
Ramen Ryoma has the most authentic chintan ramen I have tried. Japenese owned and operated, this shop has incredible food. I have tried the majority of the items on their menu and was not disappointed.

HOR was underwhelming in flavor and quality. Despite having a large amount of meat, the bowl was lacking in taste and made my stomach upset later on in the day.

Kizuki Ramen &
Izakaya

Beaverton, OR

Kizuki.jpg

Overall: 7.5/10
Kizuki has delicious ramen as well as appetizers. A little bit more pricey than I would like, however, the food is high quality and delicious. Kizuki lacks Japanese authenticity.

Afuri Ramen
& Dumpling

Portland, OR

Koku Ramen
& Bites

Beaverton, OR

unnamed.jpg

Overall: 4/10
Despite being wildly popular, this restaurant was a major let down. Soggy Noodles, and broth that smelled nauseating, Afuri was unimpressive and lacked Japanese authenticity on top of being unnecessarily expensive.
- Shoyu
- Shio

Price: $14.00
Gluten free: $2.00

Portion size: 8/10
Taste: 3/10
Service: 5/10
Gluten free noodle available

Overall: 7.5/10
Koku was decent ramen, and may be best for beginners who are unfamiliar with the strong traditional flavors of ramen broth. The meat was thick and tender, and the noodles were decently firm. The best part of Koku was the cute yellow color scheme and decor. They also have a wide selection of Japanese sodas and alcoholic beverages.
Tonkotsu
Price: $13.00
Portion size: 11/10
Taste: 7/10
Service: 8/10
No gluten free noodles

Meshikou Ramen
Columbus, OH

Meshiko.jpg

Overall: 7/10
Meshikou had very average ramen in almost every sense of the word. The meat was decently tender and the noodles were not the most firm that I have ever tried, but not the worst. The toppings left something to be desired especially with only 1/2 of a soft boiled egg and no bean sprouts.
- Shoyu
- Miso

Price: $12.00
Portion size: 7/10
Taste: 7/10
Service: 6/10
No gluten free noodles

Kyushu Ramen Bar
Columbus, OH

Kyushu.jpg

Overall: 7/10
Kyushu serves paitan style ramen with a rich and hearty flavor. Served with thin noodles that somehow maintain their firmness and a good amount of toppings. Kyushu had some unique combinations that many might find appealing.
- Shoyu Ramen
- Chicken Karaage Ramen

Price: $14.00
Portion size: 9/10
Taste: 8/10
Service: 7/10
No gluten free noodles

Mirakutei
Portland, OR

Mirukatei.jpeg

Overall: 8.5/10
Mirakutei serves paitan style ramen with firm medium thick noodles. The pork belly slice was thick and had good flavor but was very tough to chew. The portion size was very large with ample toppings. The staff were very attentive and friendly.  Mirakutei is known for their wide selection of Sake, as well as premium sushi.
- Sapporo Miso
- House Tonkatsu

Price: $13.50-$14.00
Portion size: 12/10
Taste: 9/10
Service: 10/10
No gluten free noodles

Kenji's Ramen and Grill
Vancouver, WA

Kenji's.jpeg

Overall: 7/10
Kenji's serves mainly chintan ramen with bold and unique flavors that cannot be found elsewhere. Kenji's gives you the option to build your perfect bowl of ramen to suit your tastes. The pork belly was overly fatty as well as being a bit difficult to chew. The noodles had a very firm texture but may sit very heavy in ones stomach. Kenji's was docked points for service, comfort and price.
- Garlic onion ramen with pork belly & soft boiled egg
Price: $14.50
Portion size: 10/10
Taste: 9/10
Service: 4/10
Gluten free noodles: $1.50

Kaiju Ramen
Washington DC

Boru Ramen
Arlington, VA

258s.jpg

Overall: 8.5/10
Kaiju was a refreshing change from typical ramen shops. Offering unique combinations that would not be considered bizarre, Kaiju's flavor was bold with high quality ingredients. The pork belly was surprisingly tender, and the quail eggs offered a new texture profile that was pleasing.
- Kaiju Tonkotsu Ramen

- Tokyo Style Ramen
Price: $16.95
Portion size: 10/10
Taste: 9/10
Service: 8/10
Gluten free noodles available

IMG_3883.jpeg

Overall: 4/10
Boru was a small shop that offered a comfortable small business feel. Unfortunately, The broth was lacking in flavor and had an odd aftertaste that was offensive to the tongue. In addition, despite being one of 3 customers in the shop, it was difficult to receive timely service.
- Hokkaido Miso
Price: $16
Portion size: 9/10
Taste: 2/10
Service: 8/10
